Methyl sulfoxide(DMSO) is organic compound containing sulfur, molecular formula is (CH3)2SO. It is colorless and transparent liquid without odor at room temperature, it is hygroscopic and inflammable liquid. It also has high polarity, high boiling point and good stability. It is soluble in ethyl alcohol, 1-Propanol, benzene, trichloromethane and many organic matters.
Methyl sulfoxide is extensively used as solvent and reaction reagent, especially used as processing solvent and spinning solvent in acrylonitrile polymerization reaction, synthetic solvent and spinning solvent of polyurethane, synthetic solvent of polyamide, polyimide and polysulfone resin, etc. In addition, it can be used as the raw material and carrier of certain drugs in pharmaceutical industry.
